How to Steam Clean a Carpet
One of the main reasons that people get a steam cleaner is that it is really the only solution that you have available for cleaning your carpets (besides a shampooer). This is really the only way for you to clean your carpet without using any harsh chemicals. Here are the steps that you nee to follow... Step 1: The first step that you should be doing is removing all of the furniture off the carpet. You need to have a completely empty room to do this in. It is extremely counter productive to move things around as you're doing the cleaning. You also want to vacuum the carpet first before you start because you don't want to steam any dirt back into the carpet. Step 2: Next you want to prepare your steam cleaner for operation. This is the time where you add water into the steam cleaner and allow it to heat up. If you want to you can also add a few cap fulls of vinegar to the mixture of water. This is another natural way to enhance the cleaning abilities of the steamer. Step 3: Start the cleaning process in the furthest corner. You want to start in the corner furthest away from the exit and work your way back toward the exit. I can emphasize this enough because a lot of people end up stuck in the middle of the room because they strategically didn't clean things properly. Step 4: You have to finally let the carpet completely dry. It has to dry completely before you bring in any of your furniture. The drying time will vary depending on where you live. If you live in a dry area you're going to see it dry relatively fast. If you live around water or in a humid area you'll have to wait longer. Those are the 4 steps that you need to follow for cleaning your carpet with a steamer. Just follow these tips and you shouldn't have any trouble at all.
